Beauty and calm at the Mirabó hotel

In Mallorca there are still hidden places inside the island, such as the Mirabó hotel, located in the Sierra de Tramuntana, on a farm dating back to 1500 and with views over the town of Valldemossa. One of those responsible for it, Ignacio Ozonas, summarizes his story: “My family has maintained the place since the 19th century. It was a time without inhabiting, and In the eighties, the architect Luis García Ruiz reformed it into a house ”. It was years later when it was transformed into a hotel.

Almost all family members contributed their grain of sand to the project: a refuge away from the hustle and bustle of beach areas, where the guest could feel at home. José Ozonas and Paola Oyarzábal designed both interiors and exteriors, while Carmen Ferrer took care of the decoration.

They were clear: they would create very appetizing environments, with places to get lost, absolutely comfortable, well equipped and in harmony with the idyllic natural landscape. The complexity of its original distribution -typical Mallorcan country houses- and the irregularity of the stone walls were the initial obstacles. The first steps were to adapt the distribution to the new use and enhance the decorative value of the stone.

The result is spacious and bright rooms, where the interior merges with the exterior landscape through huge windows. The decoration, based on raw tones and natural textures, It gives an aesthetic continuity to the whole. Outside, in the garden, the old pool was restored and prepared for the bathroom, and also, a second overflowing pool was made.
